In Italy numerous championships for pizza chefs are organized every year from every region of our country, among which one of the most prestigious is the National Pizza DOC Championship which visits a different location every year.

All competitions are an opportunity to affirm the validity of a product that has its roots in a territory where it is particularly loved and appreciated, but they also represent an opportunity to test the personal skills of the participants.

In some cases these competitions take place "on tour" and cross several Italian locations, gathering the approval of the public and a number of passionate professional pizza chefs who aspire to conquer the title of national champion.

World championships for pizza chefs

But Italy also hosts an important world championship in which the best pizza chef in the world is proclaimed: the prestigious competition takes place every year at the Palaverdi in Parma and includes 800 competing chefs, 1054 tests (including 966 cooking), in addition to acrobatic freestyle performances to the rhythm of music.

Participants come from about 40 countries from every continent and the 12 competing disciplines include, among others, the creation of classic pizza, in pan, in shovel, gluten-free, Neapolitan TSG (Traditional Specialty Guaranteed) and the preparation of "four mani "which crowns the best pair of professional pizza chefs.

In addition to the inevitable competition that it generates among the participants, this championship represents a party, a day of meeting and comparison, conducted as a game where no one, however, is defeated.

Knowing the factors that allow you to create a product of excellence is the necessary prerequisite to be able to qualify as a "professional" pizza maker: the strength of the different flours, the correct dough systems, the methods of effective leavening and, finally, the ability to create a pizza with all the requirements of taste and aesthetics.
